Salad dressing
2 tablespoons El Massaya
1 + ½ teaspoons brown sugar
Olive oil
Mustard with mustard seeds
Salad suggestion: White cabbage, cherry tomatoes, carrots,
cooked lentils.

EL Massaya can give a Mediterranean touch to your ice creams:
1001 night ice cream
1 vanilla-flavored ice ball
1 rose syrup ice ball
1 dash of El Massaya
1 dash of rose syrup

What about EL Massaya in your cookies?
Arak Cookies
5 cups flour
2 ½ cups butter, softened at room temperature
1 cup ground almonds
1 cup icing sugar
4 egg yolk
½ teaspoon baking powder
6 tablespoons El Massaya Arak

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cream softened butter well with sugar and yolks. Add Arak and cream well again. Sift the flour and baking powder into the mixture. Knead into firm dough. Add nuts and knead again. Form into 3" crescents and place on an UNgreased baking sheet. Bake 20-25 minutes. Sprinkle with icing sugar while still hot.

The anise flavoring can be related to different ingredients the oriental anise seeds yansoun, the badiane star anis, the European fennel, the licorice roots….It has contributed to the diversity of the recipes around the word, to name some: bonbon a l'anis, chocolate a l'anis, ice cream a l'anis, poulet a l'anis, risotto with aniseeds….
