The winemaker of Massaya likes to describe the winery during harvest time, from August to October, as a yacht and the team as the crew sailing it. Visitors are welcome onboard to follow the grapes’ journey from pressing and crushing to bottling and labeling.
And if Bacchus is on your side, you might witness the arak distillery in action with the fire heating the stills and causing the precious liquid to drip – arak literally means sweat in Lebanese – into existence.
After the winery and distillery tour, we will make a point of showing you the arak ageing room and the wine cellars with temperatures at a steady cool before heading to the tasting room on the mezzanine level. The experience is enhanced by views from the tasting room across the vines to the mountains that influence the special Beqaa climate and terroir.
At the tasting room our team will offer you a sample of Massaya’s personality with three wines free of charge, while the full range of labels that goes back to 1998 can be poured for a modest charge.
For those who are more curious, we have a wine tasting menu, a flight program, and a by-the-glass program at Massaya Faqra.
You are welcome to call and organize your visit and tour of the winery for a personalized experience.
Tours and wine tasting for the value of 5 USD.
